Julie Cabaniss began teaching science in the district the first day back from winter break, replacing former science teacher William Poznanski who suddenly retired November 30.

She was one of three people interviewed for the position by Director of Instruction Debra Taylor, SHS Assistant Principal Tim Kenney, SIS Principal Anthony Strancke , and science teachers  James Beckers and Kelly Steiner. Kenney said, "If this process had been in April, we'd probably have gotten 250 applicants. She'd still be a finalist with those kind of odds....She's energetic, enthusiastic, and she really struck us as knowing her stuff."
